It seems easier to relate through a more indirect or abstract form when speaking of spiritual things. Regular words of dialogue seem to fall short of expressing what is not in common experience, and are often misunderstood.
On the other hand, the image in a metaphor, or the story line in a parable, often stays with us longer, allowing time to reflect and absorb.
